Three programs are offered through 100 Mile PAL ESL in order to meet the individual needs of our participants.
For those who prefer a group session, join us at our ESL cafes to practice English conversation. We meet twice a month throughout the year to enjoy outings or guest speakers. Refreshments and a time for visiting, making new friends and having a conversation in English are always included.
We also have a one-to-one tutoring program. After meeting with the literacy coordinator for a language skills assessment and some paperwork, an adult learner is paired with a trained, volunteer tutor. After their initial meeting, together with the coordinator, the tutor and learner plan the lessons and choose when and where to meet.
For those who are comfortable communicating in English but would enjoy more in depth conversations and language development, there are Advance ESL Cafes during the winter months. Prior to joining the advanced group, participants must meet with the program leader and demonstrate their ability to communicate in English at a sufficient level. Meetings are held twice a month. Discussion topics range from politics to grammatical terms as decided by the participants and the facilitator.
If you are an adult, of any age, who would like help improving your English language skills, please contact 100 Mile PAL ESL at 100milepal<at>gmail.com
Great Website!
a4esl.org Is a great website full of quizzes, tests, exercises and puzzles to help every one learn more about the English language.
Another great Website is myenglishpages.com . Full of English grammar lessons and exercises to help everyone learn more about the rules of writing and speaking the English language.
manythings.org This website was designed for people studying English as a Second Language. There are quizzes, word games, word puzzles, proverbs, slang expressions, anagrams, a random-sentence generator and other computer assisted language learning activities. There are short stories to read as you listen to them.
It would be an excellent site for learners to visit to practice their language skills through the interactive lessons. Tutors will also find valuable exercises, printables and great ideas for teaching.
Have a visit and have some fun!
